Soaring Kite Pinot Noir 2019

Not sure how long we’ve been taking fruit from Bill Hardy’s block in the Southern extremes of the Adelaide Hills, but it’s been at least 7 or 8, maybe more. It’s a ripper set up, sort of place you can get lost in thought wandering around the outbuildings, exploring the old Dairy etc. It’s a touch warmer in most years and once we got a handle on the ripening profile, we started to make some seriously good drinks. This wine has always been soft and somewhat opulent which is more of a site style than a cellar one, we’ve played around over the years with different techniques, none of which seems to do anything to improve on a simple, mid temp 8 day ferment with the odd hand plunge before 8 or so months in seasoned 300’s. Nice as they say.

About Soaring Kite

Established in 2005, Soaring Kite is the Adelaide Hills project from the young crew at Loom Wine. Mainly allured by Chardonnay and Pinot, on the odd occasion they’ve also been tempted to open up a fermenter or two for some Shiraz… much to the wonderment of their winemaking colleagues.

Aromatics: Chocolate dust, red tea, macerated stewy strawberry, developed for its age
Palate: Orange rind, sweet soft tannin, jubey & juicy
Finish: Medium length with balance
Cellaring: Drink now till 2025
