The 5OS Project Adelaide Hills Gruner Veltliner 2021

We made a few of these over the years from the K1 site up in Kuitpo all of whom have been pretty good wines that seem to gather additional complexity and intrigue over time, which I personally especially rate in white wines. This year I was speaking with Geoff and he suggested it might be easier to let Shane make the wine as we’d moved onto reds in our cellar already. Sounded like a proper good plan to me at the time which upon release seems to be an even better one. Andrea reckons the girl on the label is her and is scratching her head as to ‘why/how’, I thought it was an ode to Geoff’s daughter, but either way Karyn has nailed this, everything a 5OS wine should be. No hurry for the inside or out as well.

About The 5OS Project

This is essentially our ‘Home Brand’. We make these wines ourselves and farm out others to mates, with the intention to create a range of wines that have heaps of drinkability but not at the expense of varietal, regional and vintage characteristics. They should also look the part, embracing the talent of the respective artists whilst encouraging them to find their own beat.

Aromatics: Alluring green apple with a hint of Lanolin & Green mango, spicy
Palate: More green apple with plenty of tart, candied fruit framed with nice phenolics
Finish: Softens and tapers away whilst retaining a peppery, acid bite
Cellaring: 5 years

The nose is amazing like a fruit basket on a summer day. Wine is tasty, with a silky texture and a great hint of sourness.
