The 5OS Project Barbera 2019

Grown on one of the highest vineyards in the Vale, albeit I’m not sure it’s high enough to be noticeable, especially with Barbera and all its jammy red fruits. Again, as per previous vintages this is lovely and soft, easily approachable with lashings of spicy fruits and long lingering tannins punctuated by typically varietal acidity. Slightly less oak than past versions, which we all agree makes it a more compelling drink and discussion.

About The 5OS Project

This is essentially our ‘Home Brand’. We make these wines ourselves and farm out others to mates, with the intention to create a range of wines that have heaps of drinkability but not at the expense of varietal, regional and vintage characteristics. They should also look the part, embracing the talent of the respective artists whilst encouraging them to find their own beat.

Aromatics: Sticky toffee. Liquorice. Bramble. Lifted spice.
Palate: Varietal, sweet fruit. Soft and plush, medium tannin. Almost commercial.
Finish: Seamless. Linear. Grippy and tart – food wine.
Cellaring: 5-8 years
