The 5OS Project Sagrantino 2016
This indigenous Italian grape variety, from Umbria, is gaining a reputation with winemakers both locally and globally. The vineyard for this tiny cuvée is located on the plateau that is Aldinga and Willunga. It’s more like a few rows of vines within the vineyard, in the McLaren Vale. The variety is Italian as is the man behind the project. Domenico’s Lopresti migrated to Oz back in 1966, but it wasn’t until 1983 that he set up his estate. Famous, among the right winemaking circles, for innovation and cultivating some of the best fruit South Australia has to offer. We recommend you decant this before diving in to allow the tannins to soften out and the earthy black fruit to expose itself.
About The 5OS Project
This is essentially our ‘Home Brand’. We make these wines ourselves and farm out others to mates, with the intention to create a range of wines that have heaps of drinkability but not at the expense of varietal, regional and vintage characteristics. They should also look the part, embracing the talent of the respective artists whilst encouraging them to find their own beat.
